Maybe everyone else has discovered this but it was a eureka moment for me. I'm still on the steep part of the learning curve here. I was getting ready to glue an x-brace to a top, practicing the move because of the short open time of HHG. I was struggling with getting the x-brace in proper position on first attempt. Then I realized I could use some go-bar rods as stops to guide the placement of the x-brace. I placed 5 rods so the x-brace was perfectly aligned when pressed up against them. ![]() It was easy to quickly apply the HHG and drop the x-brace in proper position. I was even able to quickly use those 5 rods as my first clamps. It went without a hitch! Hope this helps someone else. |

You can also use small L-shaped stop blocks under the gobars, with the end of the brace inside the L to locate in two axes, plus avoid making dents in your top. Pat |

Another thing that I do is to have several go bars pre-positioned just out north of the path of the upper part of the X brace, then after positioning against go bar stops, simply reposition the others onto the X brace. I can also get a few of the lower go bars pre positioned too. Just do a dry run to make sure you have left room to place the X. Saves time when using HHG. Chuck |

I use this halo pattern ,. it locks me in and I can use it to mark the top to notch the lining. |
